Walking through the streets of Bari means feeling the local culture, history, tradition, art and architecture. Bari is a very charming city with lots of hidden lane ways, paths and amazing architectural buildings. It’s definitely worth visiting and I’m going to tell you why! This town is full of energy and great atmosphere. Bari is a big port city on the Adriatic coast. The capital of the Italian region of Puglia. We stayed here for a few days in an Airbnb apartment directly in the "old town" of Bari, is a must-se! While you are wandering through the old town narrow streets, you will meet the magnificent romanesque basilica of St. Nicholas. It was built during the 11th century and remodeled several times over the centuries. One of nice things of Bari is that this city is easy to visit by walk. Walk along the old city walls, with beautiful views of the palm tree lined promenade on the sea.
In Bari, you will find women sitting outside or just inside their doorways, rolling out fresh pasta. The pasta that the make in Bari (and the pasta that is popular throughout Puglia) is called "orecchiette"- little ears. Orecchiette is a pasta that is made with semolina and water.
Weekly local markets are a pleasant way to get a taste of traditional life in Puglia. Markets here are undoubtedly the best places to buy fruit and vegetables, not only because the prices are lower than those of supermarkets or grocery stores, but because quality and freshness are often higher. For local people weekly markets are not only a place to shop but also places to meet other people.
